Yin Yoga is a meditative practice in which yoga poses are held for several minutes at a time. Practiced with the muscles disengaged, Yin Yoga allows us to target the body's connective tissues, which enhances flexibility and the healing flow of energy (Chi). Yin Yoga is a modern style based on ancient techniques and teachings. Utilizing gradual and complete stretches are especially effective in working connective tissues, notably fascia. This slow, passive and restful practice, affords the opportunity to integrate pranayama and meditation during asana.
Restorative Yoga helps to relieve the effects of chronic stress, moves and supports the spine to promote greater well-being, as well as balancing the flow of blood, fluid, energy and breath. Restorative Yoga is an internal practice. It combines meditation and relaxation, so as to quiet the mind, and body together, creating the sensation of a safe container for healing.
